Radio Daze

p1000162The great thing about community radio is that it gives anyone a go – even me! I live in Byron Bay in Northern New South Wales, Australia. Its literally paradise, with beautiful beaches, rainforest and green rolling hills. BayFM is our local radio station and all the presenters are volunteers. Each Tuesday between 2-4pm you can tune into 99.9 on the dial and listen to  ’Theme Park’.  Yes, its inspired by Bob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio Hour. But I don’t have 3 producers, 5 researchers and his great voice,  so be kind. I put together a playlist around a particular topic and throw in some surprise elements just to keep everyone on their toes.

First show, on November 4, happened to coincide with the biggest horse race in the Southern Hemisphere, the Melbourne Cup, so no choice but to theme the show around horses. We even crossed live to the racetrack and it turned out to be lots of fun. Here’s the playlist:

Pony Time - Chubby Checker

Back in The Saddle Again - Roy Rogers & Sons of the Pioneers

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy - Big n Rich

All the King’s Horses - Dusty Springfield

Equestrian Statue - Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band
